Tools and supplies needed for roadtrip in new 69 E

Dear 911 list,

I am buying a 69 911 E Targa in Michigan and am planning to fly out and road trip back to NC. The car has been sitting for a while but I am paying the shop that did the PPI to do a tune-up, oil change, brake flush, valve adjustment and a few other things to get it ready for the trip home. My question to you guys/gals is what tools and parts should I fly out with me to make sure I have what I may need in the event of a road-side breakdown. I don't think the factory tool-kit is in the car so I need to bring everything I may need. The car has the mechanical injection and the standard ignition system.

Thanks for your advice,
Rich

you're gonna get a lot of opinions for tools etc., but when I bought my '68 912 in Tulsa and drove it back to Houston, I made sure I carried:

1. my cell phone
2. my AAA card...
3. my VISA

good luck and enjoy!

Here's some food for thought...but Evren plans on driving his still sight unseen '71E from Oregon to NYC...estimated departure in a couple of weeks. Hoping he makes lots of happy posts along the way Ultimate toolkit, thanks to pwd72s!

Assortment of 11, 12, 13 15mm rings spanners, get you mechanic to see you off with a spare fuel pump, you never know. Spare fuses, the usual roadside stuff. Make sure you've got a good bottle jack and chock of wood. Don't trust the jack points in the event of a flat. I got an E with Webers so I don't have to worry about that MFI drive belt. Wave as you drive by!
