Ugh... drivers side window switches.
1985 Carrera coupe
When repairing the Drivers side window slider I had to remove the 5 prongs attached to the window switches. The left hand switch ( Drivers side ) wires stayed in position and were easy to reattach the right switch ( passenger side lift ) became twisted and when I guessed on the configuration The window went half way up and then the fuse blew. How can I figure out which wire goes where on that switch now.? Thanks porsche for not using a single cluster plug!... Help. ![]() |

I hope my fix will help another DIYer out. No cost and only took about 15 minutes.
The switch for the PS window on the driver's door has been acting up by not moving the window "up" for a while now. I could make it work by pulling the switch out of the door a bit but that began not doing it in recent weeks. The "down" function worked fine. Today I pulled the switch out and saw that I could operate the PS window by moving the connector for that function every time. Leave it alone and no function. It was loose and not making contact in the housing. I removed the switch and pulled the spade connector out of it, cleaned it up with emory cloth and reinstalled it. I squeezed it into the housing with pliers so it was seated securely. Bingo! It works every time. I could have replaced the switch but new ones have a different finish and I wanted to keep them matching on the DS. The PS switch is new(a few years ago) and has a textured finish. Not a big deal but it would have bothered me.

Do the new switches have the smooth finish, or do the new ones have the textured finish?

I bought a new one from Pelican about 5 years ago and it had a texture to it versus the smooth finish of the originals.

PAG OEM has copper connectors vs aftermarket crapola are silver colored tin connectors. OEM holds up much better, already replacement my aftermarket ones.
