Good CO level for emissions?
Gang,
THanks for a very nice Pelican member I am borrowing a Gastester to try and get my 930 in line for emissions tests. What is a good CO to shoot for? 2%? Anyone know the Illinois maximum? Thanks, chris

clamp the hose from the air pump and disconnect the oxy sensor plug before setting the CO. set it to 1.0%, and reattach the oxy sensor and unclamp the air pump hose and then see what you have. if the air pump and oxy sensor are still there, the CO at that point should be barely discernable.

John,
I should have clarified, this is a Euro 930 with no air pump or O2 sensor. I got the car to run at about 1% at idle (not running WELL mind you) and 3.5% at 3000 RPM. We use rolling dyno tests here in IL.... Now, the next question, assuming I pass emissions, where do I set it back to for OPTIMUM running...

I don't know about your laws, but here in sweden we measure CO @ idle for old cars.
I drive euro 930's w/o air-pump, lambda or catalyst and i got 0.1% CO @ idle on emission test. Make sure you test it with propperly warmed up engine as i failed test first with 5.5% CO and "lukewarm" engine...

I would try the test at 1% then fatten it up to 3% for the rest of the year

the cruise part of the test usually is what fails you. you can always try the plugged injector route. the cylinder becomes an airpump and lowers emissions quite a bit.
