Alternator bench repair in N. Carolina?

All: Thanks upfront for any assistance.

Edit:
1983 911 SC
153,000 miles
I live 1 hour south of Raleigh

I got the red charging light, noisy alternator. I plan to remove, separate from fan, have alt repaired. I'm not native to N. Carolina. Who does this work for our cars?

NC is a big state West to East. What is the closest town above 100k?

Year, miles..?

It takes an EXPERIENCED EXPERT to examine and determine the need, or not, to decide if a rewind is required.

Ebay.

In Raleigh there used to be a great small shop near HWY70W and Westgate. Near the airport.

Rebuilt mine in my 71 about 15 years ago and still going strong.

I had my alternator, a Marshal-SEV, completely rebuilt in Zanesville, OH as my Montana guy couldn't do it. Got it back in a week with new rectifier, brushes and bearings. Looks pretty enough to put on the coffee table.

Google "Sagle Auto Electric". The owner is a Pelican, turbo951, and he'll take good care of you for what I thought was a very reasonable price.

Make sure you check out the Voltage Regulator too and, if necessary, replace it with a VR of the same manufacture as the alternator.

Best,

Tom

Great place just outside of Charlotte, but that doesn't help you much.

Little hole in the wall. John @ Black Forest referred me there long back when my tach was bouncing all over. They tested it and had a voltage regulator (on board) right there in the shop. Been good as new since.

Had my wife's Honda alternator rebuilt there. Figured I'd have to come back in a few days, but I just hung out in the area for a bit and went home with it. Was like $70 for diodes, etc. A reman part was going to be close to $200.
