Honest Porsche Mechanic in San Diego area?

My long term mechanic just retired! Fritz Noak if anyone knew him, he was the best!

Well, he is referring his clients to another mechanic, I am sure he is a great mechanic but I am curious if anyone else in the San Diego area has a good mechanic they could recommend???

I found the guys at Black Forest to be very honest during a PPI I had done there. They were quite meticulous and the sheet they gave me detailing the cars problems was most impressive. If you check on this board you'll find many people feel the same way. Here's a link to their Google place page:

+1 on Mark. He's been at it for a long time. I used to take my car to him about 20 years ago when I was a starving college student and he always treated me right.

Mark Kinninger built my 2.7 RS engine 12 years ago. I have over 100,000 miles on it since then and it is just terrific. Mark is a great guy and really knows his stuff. Perfectionist with very keep 911 knowledge.

I've used both Black Forest and Wayne Baker's shop, Personalized Auohaus. I tend to bring my more modern cars (993 currently) to BF and my older cars (73 911 and 73 914) to Wayne's. I'm bery comfortable with both. PM me if you want specifics.

Only Black Forest has serviced my '70 since 1982 (Bought in 1978, used Alan Johnson in Point Loma until they closed), including a Mark K. engine rebuild. They're full service, and I have complete confidence in John, Jeff and Mark. They're not the only good shop in San Diego.

i agree i am a customer of mark also i drive from riverside to take my car to him. passing all the other guys on the way, mark has been around over 20+ yrs everyone i run into in san diego has nothing but the best to say about mark. i just bought a 3.2 engine and tranny from him, he is very fair on his pricing, an honest

i know a few porsche club driving instructors use jae lee, he is good mechanic but he will give you porsche dealership pricing. he is a good suspension guy, what mark wont do then i will go to jae lee for suspension i heard he is the one for that. but mark does 98% of my work on my car the other 2% like suspension i take to jae lee,

do yourself a favor and stay away from steve's porsche in chula vista, i know him personally, if you dont feel like having headaches and suing then dont go there. Very shadey ask around in san diego in that area

yeah scott's owner of chula vista use to work for the guy in national city. the one in national city taught that guy everything he knows, this is how shadey this guy gets.

so after working for the guy in national city the original steve's porsche, he opens up a porsche mechanic shop called steve's porsche in chula vista.

there is a big lawsuit between those two shops about this, the steve's porsche in chula vista sued the one in national city for alot of money over this.

and if you been to jacques you know how hard it is to get in there. and even to buy a part from the guy.

i have been there many times with money to burn and he wont sell nothing. unless you deal with his son, i still til this day catch his son there, i live in riverside area but my car is at the bodyshop literally down the street from his shop on the same street closer to the police station. nice guy but he is a hoarder for porsche parts i think, i know he got some cool stuff in there, and rare. he just wont let it go. if you have access to his son let me know.

I did the same exact thing, very very reasonable.

+1 on staying away from Steves in chula vista. I bumped into Steve from national city at the last swap meet he seemed nice and offered me a tour around his shop, haven't taken him up on that yet. He also warned me about the chula vista guys. Crooks from what i hear.
