1983 911sc gas tank flush?
I am in the process of cleaning out the fuel system in my newly 83 sc with CIS system.
I pumped out the gas thru a cheap see thru filter and was surprised how little soot was in the tank. The gas was a little cloudy. Pulled off the center filter in the swirl pot and the bottom part of the filter mesh had a fine silt on it , so I decided to pull the tank. Stuck my finger thru the filter opening and there is a small amount of brown- tan silt in the bottom of the swirl pot. DO I NEED TO GET THIS OUT? I would like to run some fluid thru the swirl pot ( not gas ). Thinking of going thru the return line and out the pump exit and thru a filter, maybe circulating a 1/2 gallon of fluid. Or am I over thinking this? Just dump in a half gallon of gas and swish it around and then dump it out. What can I use other than gas? The fuel pump was replaced by the PO shortly before I bought it. It started making a noise once I got it running, sounded like the pump was cavitating but only under load. Any comments would be appreciated

Something like Seafoam or lacquer thinner (gallon cans) will chow on any varnish. How do you know when sparkly clean? I like this too but the time investment goes way beyond just getting rid of the silt. Has to be plenty of members that have done things to clean tanks.
