Getting tools out under over condenser smuggler box
While removing my steering rack today, I dropped a few allen sockets under the condenser. What is the easiest way of getting to them?
After stripping the allen pan head I removed the fan housing and accidentally clipped the guide tube, how difficult are they to replace? And what are you replacing the pan head screws with? Thanks |
A flexible probe with a magnet at the end will help get what is under the evaporator, however clearance may not be your friend. I am sure you will come up with a few new cuss words...;)
I have learned my lesson early on and try to remember to stuff rags wherever there is an opening and things that don't belong will always find their way in.:D |
In order to have more access to the bottom of the smuggler's box, beneath the evaporator housing, you can remove the passenger's side floorboard and then remove the evaporator intake duct - there will be about 1" of clearance all the way around the evaporator opening at that point.

So I got the stuff from under the condenser.
The next battle is extracting the Allen m8x15 that holds the steering rack in place. It has already broken one screw extractor. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06...e2f88397f0.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
