83 M491 SC Cab - info?

A guy at work has what he says is an 83 SC cabriolet with the Turbo look package (M491?) which i didn't think started until the 84 Carrera.

Can anyone point me to some location where I can get info on this car until I get the VIN off him.

Thanks

No need to get the VIN.

He has an SC that someone welded flares on to.

Or just look at the rear brakes. The caliper is on the opposite side than what the SC or Carrera is. I believe the turbo brakes, and thus the M491, are on the rear of the hub.

He claims it's not a creation. It's a euro btw

I have read rumors that you could get one in 83 through the special wishes program but I have not confirmed.

Everyone claims that their aftermarket flared SC is a "Special Wishes" car.

Been happening on this forum for years and years.

It's never proven true.

What engine? Probably an 83 manufacture date 3.2 car.
I had a 77 3.0 that was what I guess was what would be called a special wishes car. It had been converted at the factory to turbo look.

It's an SC 3.0 L

I found some more information, there were 2 produced for the German market. Trying to get more info still.

Contact the turbo look registry in Germany. They should be able to confirm.
