'69T Speedo Cable Transmission leak

I'm restoring a '69T, and I have a significant transmission fluid leak out of the speedo cable seal. A search finds two threads on this topic, but no useful answers. I once saw a clever method for replacing the seal without dropping the tranny but can't find it now. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rich

The seal is in the aluminum part that plugs into the trans. drain the oil and remove the whole speedo drive unit after removing the set-bolt, the take the angle drive off to get at the seal. Also an o-ring on the outside.

I also have a leak since replacing my angle drive on my 1970 911T. Unless the parts are different on a 69, I don't understand what you mean about the 'seal'. I do have an O-ring, which I probably should have replaced. Here's a photo - can you please identify where the seal is?

Thanks!

So apparently there is a seal between the angle drive and the aluminum part (see photo in post above).

Does anyone know what type of seal?

For those who have the same problem or might have in the future, John of John Walker's Workshop answered my question via private mail:

"there's a radial seal in the aluminum piece and an o-ring around the aluminum part that seals it to the hole in the end cover. 999 113 036 50 and 999 701 084 50 respectively."

Thanks, John!

If you separate the two pieces, you will see the seal. What's that blue stuff?

Wish I would have known that while I had those pieces out!

Blue stuff is Swepco 201, which came pouring out on me when I yanked the assembly out! Good thing I had a rag handy to plug the opening.
