engine/chassis orphan list
Does anyone know if there is an "orphan list" anywhere where one can post chassis numbers or engine numbers in search or hopes of joining cars back with their original engines?
Looking for my original motor, and actually had a solid lead on it, but the previous owner is being deliberately unhelpful unfortunately. Very frustrating knowing it was/is within my grasp. That dealer is a regular lister here on the Cars For Sale section, which makes it even more of a thorny issue for me. |
There is a 'lost and found' thread over on early911registry.com. Do not know what year your car is, or what years they allow over there. In the 'General Info' forum.
Thinking....since some of the 'newer' cars are starting to be more valuable, perhaps the moderators should consider a 'sticky' on Pelican for 'lost and found', starting year 1974?? Just a thought. |
great thanks I'll check that out. My car is a '70. Yes I agree with values rising I think there would be alot of interest in matching motors with cars. I think its a great idea.

I just realized I misspoke....the dealer in question lists on VWSamba, but I dont know if they list on here. Forgot where I was!! Anyway, it was a very strange situation, at first he seemed helpful and seemed to want to help me get the motor back.....then, all of a sudden brick wall, in a very unprofessional way. It was obvious to me that he did/does know where the motor is, just will not tell me. Frustrating. If only I had my COA in hand last fall.......but as usual, a day late and a dollar short.
On the bright side, I wont feel so bad about modifiying my non-matching 2.2 for this car. I would probably be much more conservative about upgrades if it were the original motor. |
