While getting rid of an annoying squeak in pedal cluster I noticed a switch connected to the clutch mechanism in tunnel to right of accelerator pedal. I think it's electrical. Actually not connected but switched when peddal depressed. Is this one of those ,can't turn car on without clutch pedal depressed switches. I can turn car on without clutch depressed. If not for this what is it for?

It is on the other end of the shaft opposite to the clutch pedal. It is next to the center console.

I understand the clutch pedal switch is to the right of the accelerator pedal near the tunnel. Do I need to remove the tunnel to see the switch and what triggers it. Is there a rod or something. I am having a hard time finding it. Please help-any photos would help
