Fire Damage

Here are some pics of my recent fire damage.

Here is an overview.

Almost all of the damage was to the left side of the engine.

The majority of what got burned was the ignition components/wiring from my MegaSquirt conversion and my LC-2 wide band controller. I removed those items to see what other damage was below those parts. The plastic bits melted and dropped down. It looks like the main fire and heat was on top of the ignition components.

Thoughts on potential damage which can not be seen?

Damon

Sorry about your fire. I don't know about hidden damage, but, do you know what caused it? I'm thinking of going to efi in the future and don't want a barbeque.

Fire is usually on the left side because that's where the fuel lines are along with the sparks to ignite it.. The good thing is fire burns up and the motor itself just needs cleaning.

I am so sorry for your losses. I hope you can get it back together like it was. That is afterall what insurance is supposed to do.
Good luck,
Dave

See my earlier post. It describes what happened. A garage fire caught the car on fire.

Spontaneous Combustion

What I'm concerned with are any o-rings or other plastic internal parts. There was a lot of heat up high in the garage...but, luckily when the garage door switches shorted...both doors opened. Although this may have provided more air to the fire...it may also have provided cool air down low.

Yes, MS for both fuel and ignition. All that is really damaged on the outside were the plastic/rubber parts.
