No power when switching lights on
Hello again folks:
I experienced this problem twice the last week. When driving, as soon as I switched the lights on, I lost power everywhere and had to stop. Both times I moved a little bit the fuses and the relays and got power again. Between those two episodes, I drove during the night and was able to use the lights with no problem. I own a 1986 Carrera Any idea? Thanks. |
Sounds like a break or short somewhere,I wouldn't drive it until you find the problem to avoid getting stranded.

first I would check all ground points in the car if you have never done this. Corrosion has likely set in at various points most likely those areas exposed to outside moisture and in the front trunk. When restoring my 73.5 I went around with some sandpaper and hit all the ground points I could find. Some were pretty bad. This car had not run since 1988. I also rebuilt the tail light housings that had old sealant that had gone bad. My electrical system has not had any problems during these first few months of driving it due to this necessary maintenance.

Thanks a a lot

The ground cable in the battery was a little bit loose. I adjusted it and no problems. Thas Rockreid for your help.

Check the fuses. The tips can be worn off. BTDT
