I have done way, way, way over 100MPH in my buds 993. I was so glad it did not have a bull-horn and huge lights on the top! That extra gear cannot help the aerodynamics...

nothing new.......

There is a long history of 911 police cars in various towns in Germany and Switzerland, plus other fast euro cars. This would make you become a cop?? I would rather just do what I want in life, and buy a Porsche in a normal color, but that's just me.

Actually Porsche has a long history of being used as police cars.
I can't remember exactly when it started, (memory is the second
thing to go at my age) but remember seeing pics of regular 911
outfitted with paint, siren, etc. and being used as chase cars
on the roads without speed limits. We're talking early '70's
I am pretty sure.

I am a cop, stationed in Germany and all I see the locals drive are damn VW Minivans and Opel Kadet's!!!
I am sure they are out there though...just waiting for me to blow by at 200+km in a 130km zone!

I fear the damn roadside camera/speedtraps more than the actual patrol cars.

I´ve never seen one with a speaker and this kind of blue lamps. Might be a fake (or funny accessories just for the photo)...

Is that the same 993 that Porsche donated being it was the 1,000,000 Porsche ever made?

Nope, this is a real copcar. The front plate shows an orginal Stuttgart (small town next to the more significant Zuffenhausen in Germany) police number, and I have seen similar 911's back when I lived there in 89 (no 993's back then...).

regards

LeRoux

I remember seeing photos of early-911 Police cars from Germany on this very BBS. The Europeans certainly like fighting crime, in style!

A guy in our PCA region has a billboard in his garage.(It's more like a BIG house with no internal walls)
It has a picture of an early 911 "Polizei" car. The caption reads...
In Germany there are no getaway cars.

How about this one. I took in 99 at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. Gotta be the 1st Porsche cop car.

they're real, my dad used to run a rod and gun club at the hahn air force base, well there was some miscommunication with the local law enforcement about what was being sold from our apartment, i came home from school and there's an easy half dozen police vehicles in the courtyard, i can remember a porsche 944, BMW 3 series, and a 911 being in attendance, the neighbors were a little spooked, after a little chat with his CO things were straightened out
