Left reverse light on while driving?
What type of craziness do I have
Picked up this 83 Sc just a month or two ago Someone finally pointed out that my reverse lights don't come on when I'm reversed Figured it was a bulb issue. Picked up some new bulbs and when I went to change them noticed that there were no bulbs in with one at all Put the new ones in and still no lights when reversing. Must be the fuse right? But then noticed that the left reverse light is one when I drive ( even with the lights off) but only the left one Sounds like a tricky fix as I don't know much about electrical work Anyone else have this issue before? |
It appears your light assembly is broken and a wire may be grounding out.
You see the backing of the assembly is liken to a computer PCB board and over time and use become brittle. Remove the assembly and open the back and check the socket backing and for loose connections. Pretty easy fix. One of my boards fractured and the connector was grounding out and causing craziness with my lights. Used a plastic milk bottle, cut to size and epoxied it together. All good for over 4 years now. You will need some plumber's puddy to re-seal the back cover of the assembly. |

I like butyl tape/rope and you can get it at NAPA. $15-$20 and you have 15 feet or so of a flexible 3/8" rope (shape) that squishes nicely and does not harden. NAPA AUTO PARTS |
Thanks guys
I'll give it a shot! Hopefully it's a simple fix |
You really need a multi-meter to nail it.
