Muffler to match with B&B headers

I have done many searches on this topic but the results are all 5-10 years old. For anyone using B&B headers what muffler setup are you using ? I'm looking to eliminate done and drop the volume. I am currently using a B&B 2/2 muffler. I have bad drone between 2200 and 3000 rpm and the system is too loud. I put a cc incert in one output. It helped a little. I often take 4 hour drives. Replacing the headers is not an option. The car is an 86 carrera.

AFAIK, only a B&B muffler fits a B&B system. You would have to fab something to fit.

What seems the best base muffler to base a fab on?

What did Jack Olson use on his car? Magnaflow? There's a picture of the setup out there somewhere.

I had their single outlet muffler on my old B&Bs. It wasn't too loud for my daily driver. Very little resonance, if any.

Here is my Olsen inspired Magnaflow. I cut the elbows and flanges off of B&B, bought a magnaflow 14385 and had a shop weld it up. Less than $200 all in. I think it weighs about half of the B&B

I found a shop today that will make one of these for me out of my B&B and a MagnaFlow muffler. I am going to have the outputs be 2.5 inches vs. The 3 inches of the current B&B. I drop it off tomorrow. I'll let you know how it works out.

Did the shop have 3" 3 bolt flanges or did you have to source them somewhere else?

I used a 997 Center Exhaust

That car looks killer. Nothing else to contribute to the thread.

I love the look of that Eberspaecher muffler - Actually the whole package! Nice

I went with 2.25", slid inside muffler flanges perfect.

I used the flanges of of my B&B muffler as donors, but the shop had them, too. I am not sure they were 3" though. Maybe 2 1/2"? (The final outlet was 3")

I thought about using a 997 center exhaust too since I just took one off mone to install the Sharkwerks bypass.

I've had the magnaflow on my old car and it droned and was way too loud...

Link to Magnaflow I copied

I don't claim to be an expert on exhaust - I did note in the link you posted that the muffler was a 2.5" 14386. My car is a track to street car project, with 1 3/4" b&b headers - headers that I think are probably too large for a street 3.2 - so I went with the smaller 14385 muffler with 2 1/4". My setup is a bit of a band-aid as I am eventually going back to stock heat exchangers, euro premuffler and a 1 in 1 out in the future. I do believe the $200 magnaflow setup is a major step up from the B&B muffler that the OP and I had.

Got car back today. New muffler is a Magnaflow 14568 2.5" outlets. Much better sound. Deeper, less raspy and lower volume. Still has a bit of a drone but only from 2200-2600. At idle you can have a conversation. At WOT sounds good.

I have used both a Magnaflow (11385 is same as 14385 put not polished) and a Dynomax (17725) both are 2.25" and the Dynomax is quieter. I originally used the Dynomax and then after seeing a couple posts that suggested that the Magnaflow was quieter I gave it a try. It was obviously louder so I have switched back. The one thing in the Magnaflow's favor was it is stainless.

There was a thread quite a while ago where Steve Wong discussed playing with a GT3 muffler and the complexity and expen$e was an issue. In his post he made a passing mention of someone using a plain old single turbo muffler to get the same performance on the dyno while achieving a much quieter sound output.
