Dash Removal: Nut/Stud just spin.

One of the studs just spins in place.

Any suggestions?

Wrap the teeth of a Vice Grip with masking tape and clamp it as close as you can onto the end of the stud threads. Hold it with one hand while you loosen the nut with a wrench in your other hand. When the nut reaches the vice grip, release it and use a needle nose plier above the nut to stop the stud turning.

^ I know that's normally a good idea but I just don't think there is room in there.

This is also a total lie (in my care anyways).

There is some sort of wax or film on them and I need a wrench/socket to get the nuts all the way off. They don't even become hand tight half way down like most hardware. Still got to wrench for even the last two threads.

Cut a slot in the end of the stud and use a straight blade screwdriver to hold it while you unscrew the nut.

The studs are welded to a flat steel section. The flat steel is then staked into the soft dash material. It is very common for these to come loose.

remove as many of the nuts as possible. If the stakes have worked loose the dash will pull free with no damage. Once the dash is out, then you can grab the flat on the stud and remove the nut.

Then epoxy the stud back into the dash. It will be located by a small recess in the urethane (?) backside.
