sunroof cable repair - cable now won't move w/ motor?

I am attempting my DIY sunroof cable repair as gleaned from a number of documented success stories here via the search function.

All's swell... until... reassembly.

First, the track would NOT seat all the way in... 1/16" or 1/8" and it bottoms out.

Seems the cable "collar" at the rear where it enters the roof is interfering with the track's ability to seat

I opened up the leading edge of the track a tad and got the track in. Fine.

All screwed back together (not the panel, just the hardware), and now the cable in question does not move with the motor.

Did I unseat it from the motor somehow?

Is there a known / easy remedy?

Frustrating.

Any insight appreciated - TIA gents.

Hey Paulina, if you aren't already aware of this, that long zipper (different than yours, buttofcourse) on the headliner, near the rear glass, is the access for the sunroof motor. If you unzip that, and then remove some crusty insulation and the plastic cover for the motor, you can see the motor, it's drive clutch, the cables, etc.
