1980 SC seat question

Hi everyone...first post!

I just purchased a 1980 911 SC. The PO installed seats that are not stock (I don't know where they came from). I've come across a pair of seats from a 1984 Carrera. Would the Carrera seats most likely be the same seats that originally came in the SC?

Thanks, Mike

Not the same. The 84's will fit in the SC, though without problem.

The '84 seat will have a different backrest release but will otherwise be more or less the same as the '80 seat. The materials (leather, vinyl, etc.) will be different, so I doubt you'd be able to match most colors from one era to the other.

The '84 seats were used from '81-84 only. As noted, they will fit just fine. I've got a pair that will be posted in the Classifieds here as soon as I get a box so I can ship them.

I went ahead and bought the '84 Carrera seats. When I pulled the driver's side seat, I found this cable. Trying to figure out what, if anything, it was connected to.

Here are the "new" seats installed...front bolts only...'til I can figure how to get to the back bolts .

Looks good!

Back bolts are easy to get to...just slide the seats all the way forward and you'll be able to get the back bolts in.

Thanks! The seat rail must hit the front bolt, preventing it from going all the forward.
All bolts are in. Now it's my back that's out

Connector

That looks like a PL259 connector. Is there a window mount antenna on the rear window or on the rear deck? It may have been for an early cell phone antenna or a 2 way radio such as a Ham Radio antenna.

Nothing like that on the rear of the car. Thanks, though! Sounds like it in not important, so I'll move on to the next project.

Thanks again to all. I've never worked on a car before, and I may have bitten off more than I can chew. Tackling one problem at a time...very rewarding when (if) I can fix something .
