I have tried to install the sleeve on my 75 914-4 but im having a hell of a time. it slides nicely into the bearing by itself and on the shaft without the bearing, but put the two together and no Bueno. I can only get it half way at best. there is ZERO debris in or on the old bearing. I have removed it completely and in fact re packed it with grease to ensure smooth operation and it still wouldn't go on. I have greased the whole shaft as well to no avail. I have been able to put it all back together tho and it is tighter though still some play which I figure would sure up once all the way installed but having hammered it lightly, hard, and more hard, nothing. any ideas as to what I can do to resolve this or shall I just leave it half way on. at half way, the full bearing is covered from what I can see but I just don't know where to go from here. THanks

As far as I can tell, it should work. You may want to try another sleeve because I have had irregular sleeves that would not go on...

Is it the sleeve with raised ribs, or the smooth 928 part #?
