Can anyone run a license plate for me
Almost got hit by a younge kid running a stop sign. He continued to run stop signs and one red light. He is going to kill someone, and driving like that in our neighborhood he is going to hurt someone kids. Got his license plate, and want to go over to his house and pay him a friendly visit.

A few years back a kid in my neighborhood did the same thing. The cop that came by my house went and had a little chat with child and parents. The cop came back to report he was confident the kid would be car-less instead of careless for quite some time.

Lee is right. I would suggest you call the local Police station. When they get a free minute they will send an officer over to hear the complaint. (or they should) Then the officer will find out who it is and pay a visit.
I don't know what its like there but up here in Canada (Alberta) an officer can actually write the guy a ticket for the offence. But if that is done the witness (YOU) would have to go to court, if it went that far, and tell the judge. Probably all that would happen is the cop would warn the kid, and hey if that works GREAT! Have the police handle it if they will. You never know who will come to the door or how they will react. Plus, if you can get their address by running a license plate, the kid might be able to do the same thing and exact a little revenge.

Funny, the cop in my situation made me seem like such a nice guy to the kids parents. He told them that I had decided not to pursue the "wreckless endangerment" charges - I was standing by the street when the kid ran the stop sign and came around the corner sideways.

crazy kid
i am not one to involve the police usually but i dont think that handling this yourself will do you any good, as the kids is probable not afraid of his own parent/guardian and they may not even care that he is a jerk. Plus if you appear to harass the kid then they will lower the legal boom on you let the police know they will handle and i will bet that you are not the only one complaining.

Okay
I really hate to bug the police, but sounds like I should.

Running a plate
In some states one can pay a $4.00 fee and the Bureau of
motor vehicles will provide you with the registered owner and the address. I doubt California is one of them. If this happened in a residential neighborhood, you can drive through late at night and usually figure out where the little worm lives. Reporting it to the police will fall on deaf ears. Unfortunately, someone will be seriously injured or worse killed before this clown realizes how much of a danger he is................................................ ...................................... To one gallon of water, add one pound of sugar and stir vigorously before pouring down one's gas tank...... .................................................. ........................................... With a pair of wire cutters clip the oil sending unit before replacing the oil pan bolt. Do this after you have drained the oil into a suitable container so that your mark dosen't realize what one has done.............................................. ................................ An 8 ounce can of fine sand mixed in a can of cheap motor oil can be quickly poured down ones oil fill.............................................. ..................................... Aircraft paint remover will remove paint very quickly, it takes but a second as you walk by your mark's car late at night............................................. ................................. ...................Subject matter is for educational purposes only!!!

Too much BS to get involved. I'm sure your neighborhood punk has friends. You'll wake up to a burned up lawn and your cars vandalized. It never works out well when you go after the other guy.
But then again if you're a renter... rjp

"hate to bother the police"
????????????????????????? that is what the taxes are for and as long as you approach the cops with a good "responsible" citizen attitude I am sure they will swing by the kid's house.... Last edited by 82SC; 11-14-2002 at 10:56 PM.. |

I would also go to the fuzz, although I find them rather useless.

73911,
If you do not go to the Police and insist on filing a complaint, think how you might feel if this jerk does the same stunt and next time hits and injures or kills someone. File the report with your local Police and check back with them to see what happened in a day or two. They are there to "protect and serve" the last time I looked. This punk could have killed you and will keep it up until he is stopped or at least slowed down. We all drove a bit wild when young but running stop signs is way over the top and needs to be stopped and now. If things start to happen around your house in the future then there's always a good 12 gauge... Joe

you could have the street dept put up some slow children playing signs or see if the man will set up radar on your street fo a few days. there is one guy in a saturn that used to go a little to fast up our road. i gave him 6" less everytime i passed him in the 250. he eventually got the point.
