Is adjusting Zeniths the same procedure as adjusting Webers?
 

I'm currently trying to adjust my Zenith Carbs, as they are backfiring.

I found this guide: Pelican Technical Article: "Carburetor Adjustment, Balance, and Tuning" - 911 (1965-73) - here on pelicanparts, but the manual seems to apply for webers only.

Is the procedure the same for Zeniths?

I understand the balancing idle and air bypass is the same, but is it also suggested that you turn the mixture screw untill the idle drops, as on the webers?

This is the part, that i'm refering to:

Starting with cylinder number one, adjust the mixture adjustment screw at the base of the carburetor. On each Weber carburetor, there are three mixture adjustment screws that have a spring wrapped around the inside to prevent them from turning. Turn this screw in until the idle begins to drop. Then back off the screw about an 1/8th of a turn or until the idle comes back to its previous level. The goal is to turn in all the mixture adjustment screws right to the point where they begin to affect the idle. Repeat this procedure for each cylinder on each side of the car.

I hope that some of you have experience with the Zeniths :)

Yes, the mixture screw adjustment procedure you are referring to is the "Lean Best" adjustment and is the same for all carburetors.
