Quick question,
What are the wear tolerance specifications for the early cars with the aluminum "S" brakes? Specifically I am looking for acceptable rotor and pad thicknesses, front and rear (if they differ). Thanks, JA ------------------ John 70/73 RS Spec Coupe |

front and rear rotors, new=20.0, minimum 18.6mm. how long you run the pads is not specified in the tech book, but with 4-6mm remaining, they get hotter faster and can fade.

As with all vented brakes from '69 thru '83, the wear limit on the rotors is 18.0 mm, and minimum machined thickness is 18.6 mm.
The minimum pad thickness is 3 mm, but they tend to be tapered, so the limit would be reached when the thin end is 3 mm and thick end perhaps 4-5 mm! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa 1992 Dodge Dakota 5.2 4X4 parts hauler |
