what's my noise? 78 911
It's hard to describe, a metallic rotational rubbing sound almost. not like brake pads rubbing, but more like a high pitched humming when driving slowly.
Only when car is rolling or driving and it does not affect the noise if the brakes are on. ? Thanks, |
That, my friend, could be a multitude of mechanical things....where does it originate from, is it rpm specific (up/down) of constant.....iotw, much more info required.

Nothing to do with speed, nor rpm. it seems it is in the front wheel area but even split. i would assume wheel bearings would sound more screechy. this is is really i high pitched hum of sorts. but it is consistently he same at slow speeds and is fairly loud. has nothing to do with engine at all. it does it when the engine is off and is just rolling.

Could it be the sound you get when pads are worn. Some pads have a warning sound like what you described

My first thought was wheel bearings. For Pete's sake, jack the front and spin the wheels and push and pull them to see if you hear anything, instead of just posting a question.
