New TRE bumpers came today!

I looked at a lot of fibergalss bumpers and even bought one kit (sucked so bad I wouldn't use it).
This is some of the best fiberglass work I have ever seen.
The thickness is uniform and the finish is perfect.
They were packaged extremely well and made it from CA to OH without a scratch.

Well worth the wait. The rear is just as sweet as the front,
smooth........

They will be fitted up this evening and painted along with the rest of the car this weekend.

Looks like a great piece of work. Is it light? Put it on a scale and post the figure. My RUF front came in at 3.5 lbs and the rear at around 5lbs. I was able to save around 60 lbs by replacing the front and rears with glass pieces.

Looks beautiful though, that's for sure.

That is one great looking bumper. What color is the car? When will it all be sorted out? Maybe we should have a nationwide 3.6 conversion road trip next year. We could run HWY 50 at ridiculous speeds like that old movie "Vanishing Point".

Congrats on the bumper!

The front bumper weighs right at 9.5 lbs and the rear weighs 7.5.
I can't find a flaw on these bumpers (trust me I have looked)

The car is in the body shop right now getting painted.

The Varioram should be sorted out soon, I have my 3.6 nightmare repair estimate and it is going to be fixed by Farlers Performance here in Ohio. Ken Farler is one of 30 master Porsche techs in the US. I go to court in Delaware on the 25th of this month to deal with the "other mechanic". I will be glad when it's all behind me, and I can just drive this thing and learn how to drive on the track.

It was $450.00. I really liked the oil cooler provision. Even on cool days I think you must have a front cooler with the 3.6's.

I am installing some trick tilt-in / tilt away lights in the brake cooling ducts. When it hits the track the lights tilt inside the duct and full airflow reaches the front rotors.

Welcome to the F/G Brotherhood! There is nothing like removing weight from the ends of the car to improve performance in acceleration, stopping and cornering. Are you going to remove the entire bumper assembly (i.e. bumper shocks, mounts, etc)?

Moses, did you get a new car?

My body man has fabbed up and welded some really sweet aluminum tubing and braces to mount the front and rear bumpers.
I'll know my total weight and total weight reduction in a few weeks.

Paul,

No, not a new car. A wonderful old car with a new motor. I'm putting in a 1997 euro Varioram with chip, headers, 7 pound flywheel. New IROC front/rear bumpers. Kevlar clutch. Nose and fender cooler with fan. (Very slick install for these).

Should be fun if I ever finish.

Paul,

Man, I'm an idiot. I re-read your post. The pic of the blue car is not mine, but it has a TRE motorsports bumper like the one Todd just bought. Thought I'd include the pic so you could get an idea what Todd's car will look like. Of course, Todd's car is a Targa. (I don't know the color).

Todd, The light in the air-duct sounds cool. What are you using?

The lights are little Halogens on fold up aluminum / titanium brackets that my uncle found in Italy. They are only 20watts but man are they bright. The CF ducting my friend made for me that goes behind the bumper has a provision for the lights to fold up inside. I will post some pics when it's finished.

Because we have to run front plates in Ohio, I am not sure what I am going to do about that, where ever I put the plate it is going to suck. The car is staying the same color, guards red with a BLACK targa bar (thanks for the input on the targa bar painting saga!).

Dude, I have never had front plates on my 911 or my VW and have never had any probs. Of course it is probably only a matter of time but until Im forced, they stay in the trunk. Sounds like you are going to have a nice car there. Im up in Tipp all the time, we will have to meet at Hinders and have a beer. Dave C

Yes, a beer or four at Hinders is always good!

BUMPER UPDATE:

The bumpers fit up perfectly, my body man even said they were some of the best fiberglass pieces he has worked with, minimal prep.

The curves were right on the money with the lines of the car.

TRE is offering some good stuff with this product.
