Question Heating in 3.2 Cabrio - 'bad heat'?

Found that with the heater levers up, I get loads of heat up under the dash - just above drivers knee, and towards the outside of the car

- this feels like it might be too hot and might cause damage to all the cables etc. under the dash.

is there any way to see if there's a fault in the heating ducting?

Thnx = too hot

hi

there is two heater outlets under there, one where you state and the other under the passenger side.

if you get under there the hot air should be coming out of the two outlets. it shouldn't get hotter than the engine bay - cause thats where it comes from! - so your cables will be ok.

i think your knee would burn before the cables!

i had a scare yesterday when my girlfriend turned the heater on, we got 1/2 mile down the road and smoke started to fill the cabin from under the dash!

we both panicked and got out the car-after cutting the engine. then i realised it was oil dripping onto the heat exchangers! a job i have put off for too long.

Hi,
heat under/behind steering wheel seems to be getting a bit worse.

part worried about heat damage to the wires/cables - but also it gets so hot it uncomfortable for the top of my foot on the throttle!

Have tried turning all the vent controls to the windscreen setting, and even then, and with all the heating turned off - still get this heat!!

The source seems to be near the cables that run along under the dash, just behind the steering wheel.

After an hour or so of driving last night, when I took the key out of the ignition - I noticed the ignition keyhole 'surround' was also very hot.

any ideas?

THnx
