whats the best way to refinish/buff 915 shifter base?

Ordered a wevo and would like the shifter base to remain in sight. What is the best war to get it looking nice? I would guess glass bead blasting it would look real nice but wanted to get some opinions. Also how to keep it looking good.

I cleaned then sanded mine smooth. Had it powder coated matte black.

get a bench top buffer and some rouge and go to work. Will make it look like chrome. Clear coat it afterwards unless you like removing oxidation every couple of years.

I sanded mine down and polished it with a dremel polishing bit then by hand/cloth and Autosol. Being as it isn't exposed to the elements I haven't needed to concern myself with keeping the finish.

The natural finish may work but it depends on the rest of your interior.

Cheers, Neil

I used fine emery paper and Solvol Autosol to shine mine. It's a metal polishing paste, don't know if you have it over there but anything similar will do. Looks great

I have a crummy-looking spare base that I have cleaned up in hopes of finding a Wevo shifter someday. I used wet-or-dry sandpaper by hand with some soapy water and then cleaned up with Scotch-brite (to take down the "big stuff" and get it somewhat smooth). Then I hit it with two coats of VHT black crinkle paint. It has a nice, uniform texture that hides all the corrosion pits...

I'd like to hear your impressions of your new Wevo shifter when you get it installed.

Fan I'll let you know. I must say I was a bit surprised how little there is to it for 600 bucks. I know they are great and it's why I ponied up, but man, struggling to see why it has to cost that much.

There is a build thread here somewhere where the owner chromed the top plate on the shifter base. It really looked sweet on top of the black powder coated base.
