Any one use early gages in a later car?

Aside from the spedometer that changed from cable-driven to electronic on later 911's, how compatible are early gages in later cars? Lets just say 1970 911 gages in a SC? The tachometer for example has one extra pin on the later models but can it be adapted to fit nonetheless? What about the fuel gage? i'm sure the clock would work?!
