911t accelerator/throttle question
 

I have a 72 911T that hasn't run in four years. Actually waiting on a key...
I notice that when I press the accelerator or the throttle linkages there is no movement. It's like the bell crank is stuck or some it hung up. Shouldn't the throttle bodies move freely?

I don't have carbs but does the cable from the accelerator pedal hook onto the carb linkage by one of those ball and socket joints you can pop off?

Pop that and see which side of that connection is not moving.

Not sure if you have mfi or not, but if mfi check to see if you have the long rod that connects bell crank on back side of stack. This rod goes through the firewall and connects to the other bell crank on the tranny. Also, make sure its connected at the pedal. But if one of these4 is disconnected the pedal will be very easy to press.

Isolate the problem, the throttle body butterfly's can easily jam if adjusted to tight. Pop the accelerator linkage off at the engine and keep popping linkages until you find the frozen section. Then seek more advice on how to free up the frozen component.

Thanks folks. I do have MFI and have unlinked the connections to determine that the MFI bell crank moves freely and the accelerator rod moves freely from the pedal to the tranny bell crank and up to the throttle linkage. The control rod across top of fan between the stacks does not move nor do the banks of linkages for each side stack.

Since I have no key yet and thus no electricity to the engine, is this why these components will not move? batteries are out of the car.

No, remove the rods that connect from control rack to pump, and the two on either side that connect to stacks, then see if you can budge the control rack. If it moves see if mfi pump is seized by moving the lever on the left side of pump where you just removed the rod from the control rack. If it moves, then it has to be the stacks.

There is a connection of the rod linkage near the transmission mounts. The original connector would break and you would have no accelerator. The replacement has a metal case surrounding the connection (screw) and that gives you a limp home possibility

By the way, since no one mentioned, DO NOT mix up or change the lengths of any of those rods as you pop them off to check for motion. No harm will be done by removing control rods one at a time, checking, cleaning, lubing ( like one small drop of engine oil on each ball), and reinstalling. But make sure each goes back in exactly the place it came from, without alteration.
