Car in a barn story.
Finding an interesting car in a barn that has long been forgotten can be quite a thrill. Any 356 lovers on this list? A friend of mine just discovered a 59A sunroof coupe that has been in storage for over 21 years. It has some really weird features..........a complete one piece bench seat in the front ( as opposed to 2 regular seats), Rudge(?) knock off wheels? My friend was told that the car was built this way from the factory. I guess this goes to show that the factory has always been willing to supply cars with "special wishes" from customers.

Heck, I’m only 5 not 71!

I would also like to see some shots of it and hear a little more about the find.

The pics I have are too big to post to this site. I have sent them to a fellow PP regular and asked to have them resized to fit this board. Hopefully, they will be up shortly.

Barn find...
I would really like to see those pics as well..... I found one similar for a friend last year...stored for 15 years...
59A cab with bench seat, Rudge knock-offs,.....he's just starting the restoration process. I didn't buy it, as I had just bought a 59A coupe in an odd factory color (orange), it also has Rudge knock-offs, wind wings, VDM wood steering wheel, and a few other bits (complete full tool kit!). Speaking of Barn Finds...I bought a 67S project car in St.Louis this summer (stored since 1981, completely dissasembled and "dipped", then left outside during part of the storage...)....pics showed it to be as rough as a night in jail...but the owner said the pans were perfect, the undercarriage was supposedly detailed (it actually was just about flawless), and the car was absolutely complete. So, it was reasonably priced...and I trailered it back to Seattle. Turns out to be a 45K original miles car with a newly rebuilt engine, and in inventorying the pieces...I can't find a single item that's missing. Barn finds with pics would make a great thread! Looking forward to those 356 pics.... Eric |

You just need a freeware image editing program and you can resize your photos easily yourself. Go to http://www.irfanview.com/english.htm and download their viewer if you use a Windoze machine. It's easy to use and free. If you're on a Mac, I'm sure there are similar programs out there. TT

Great find. Love barn find stories. The bench seat was a factory option as were the Rudge knock offs. Both are pretty rare and valuable. Add the sunroof and your buddy's got a very nice car.

I bought a 66 911 that sat in the corner of a wood shop for 23 years half done. I got the last licence tab still stapled to the reg card (1977) with lots of sawdust and 90k on the spedo
