Aero (Turbo) sideview mirror question
A few years back I purchased and installed factory Turbo "aero" sideview mirrors on my '85 Carrera. I believe I bought them from B&M (If I remember correctly) Since installation I noticed that the mirrors (the glass not the housings) would shake from the natural vibration of the car when driving and I can't figure out why. Perhaps a piece missing? (The mirror snaps onto the motor assembly directly) Has anyone done this update and if so do you experience the problem? Better yet any soulutions?
Thanks, Rick |
I would check for loose motor assembly bolts (there are 3), or a broken tab on the glass mount. Or, the motors/rings themselves may be worn/loose. Also, if they are like the old-style mirrors, the glass is held in by a locking ring, accessed by a small hole in the bottom of the mirror housing. Make sure the glass is "locked" in place. Do both mirrors do it?

This happen on my Flag style mirros. There are 3 or 4 prongs ( I don't recall) on the mirror backing that snap into the mirror housing assembly. The mirror part just snapped out and i discovered that one of the prongs were broken. I applied a dab of silicon to the mirror backing and snapped the mirror back in place. No shaking for over a year now. I imagine the mirrors are snapped onto the housing on the areo mirrors like the flag mirrors.
