??? On Installing Passenger Side Stainless Outside Mirrow

My '74 came with only the driver side SS Large Flag Mirror (which is apparently the norm). Being paranoid about driving with no passenger side mirror I installed Vitaloni black flag mirrors which I have been quiet happy with. However 30+ years later they are starting to show their age.

I would like to go back to the original SS mirrors. I have the original SS driver side mirror which is like new and I can get a NIB Porsche passenger side mirror to match. Re-installing the driver side is no problem. However, the passenger side needs to go where the Vitalone is and the Vitaloni's install from the outside. The Porsche mirror installs from the inside.

Question: Have any of you actually installed the pasenger side mirror? Is there access to the inside of the door where the mirror actually must be installed? I haven't pulled the passenger side door panel to see what it looks like. I currently have the driver side panel off and the door has 2 cutouts for the power window switches and one might be able to install using those cutouts (assuming they are also on the passenger door)?
If not, anyone know how you could install the original type mirrors on the pasenger door other than just cutting large holes in the inner door panel (which I had rather not do)?

thanks:
