Where to get GPS holder that mounts through clock bezel?
I remember seeing this here, and I thought now sold by Pelican. But I can't locate it in catalog - does anyone recall details??
Thanks, Algernon |

Personal opinion. I have the p-car mount. Yes, it is pricey compared to the option you posted. It is a well-built product though.
I will say this though, I like having my phone at the same eye level as my instrument cluster. I can scan it as I scan the gauges while driving -- I don't have to look in a different place like I used to. The windshield area of a 911 is already kinda small. I personally don't like other things stuck to the windshield because I don't like anything else in my visual field. YMMV. |
You can read my thread and mini review on the PCarMounts
I've now put over 1000 miles behind the wheel with the mount installed with my iPhone attach. I like it even more now that I've used it. I didn't want anything that attached to the window and I've never had any luck with suction cups holding things securely on glass. The PCarMount is rock solid and I'm even using the included magnetic option that is simply a metal pad that sticks to the back of your phone or case. I exchanged emails with the owner/inventor and complimented him on an elegant and simple design. I could have CNC machined a knock-off but 1) I greatly prefer to support innovative small businesses and 2) by the time it was said and done I would probably have 2 or more hours into it and still not have a solution as nice as PCarMount! cheers, Michael |
Thank you all - Tirwin and mhackney describe the one I was thinking of!
I turned a corner, the sucker failed on my GPS and it fell down between my legs and among the pedals. A police car appeared from nowhere and stopped me for driving erratically!! But where is it in the Pelican catalog?? - I can't locate it under any key words I can think of! |
I used Google search to find: Pelican Parts.com - Pcar Mounts Bracket System
|
Thanks mhackney - I would never have thought of going to Google!

It's my go-to way to search every where. Want to search in a specific forum like this one, simply:
"PCarMounts" site:Porsche 911 Technical Forum - Pelican Parts Technical BBS |

Part successfully ordered, thanks everyone. |
Algfernon, that is a Google search. You type that in the google search box. Google lets you restrict your search to a specific site with the "site:" keyword like I did above. You can use all of the normal Google search techniques to refine the search.
|
I guess what I mean is, if you go to the top of this (Pelican) page, and use "search our site", you can usually find any part in the Pelican catalog directly. But not for this - strange!
