Book order...too expensive for non EU =(

Asked from customs about the 101 Projects. It costs approx 30$ in states therefore it needs to go through customs because it comes outside EU. Ok, whats the total cost then?
(30$ + international shipping $)* 2 (approximately).

We are talking about 80$ ...huoh, guess I will buy the book whenever it reaches europe.

Should be that expensive - I ordered the book a few days ago, and shipping to Sweden was just $14!
EU or non-EU shouldn't make a difference - we have to pay customs anyway (maybe not the same % though) - I'll just take my chances with it passing customs without being caught - about 50% of the times it just goes right through ! http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/biggrin.gif

I ordered the book a few days ago, $30 plus $25 shipping = $55 US dollars = $115 Australian dollars!! And yes $115 Aussie feels just like $115 USD to earn!!

Oh well

Er...and of course I typoed on topic. I meant too expensive for EU person, not: non eu =) =)

But lets see if we can make a bigger order via local Porsche club, that way its gonna be cheaper...i think.

Are you talking customs or just shipping? USPS offers a "book rate" for overseas mailing. It's cheap, but we're talking sea, rather than air mail. Shipping this way to a friend in Germany takes 3-4 months, usually. Now that said, I wonder how strict these overseas customs thieves would be if a guy in the USA just happened to buy Wayne's book here (Mine was about $36 with shipping) Then remailed it book rate overseas, filling out the customs slip as a "gift"? If others are willing to pitch, in, I'd be willing to ship a few books this way, but I wouldn't want to make a career of it. Overseas buyer sends me $36 USA funds,(better make that $42, I forgot to include the overseas postage, which I'm just guessing. I'm not trying to get rich here.) I then "buy" the book, send it as a sea mail "gift". Offer open to the first few who e mail me...but like I said, I don't want to do this dozens of times.

Well let's see ... we use the steamer trunk with the false bottom, bribe the appropriate customs authorities, treat the contents so the book-sniffing dogs don't catch on.... This is getting complicated.

Wayne, can't you sell these guys e-books?

pwd72s 10-01-2001 04:00 PM

Or at least offer book rate sea mail shipping if they don't mind the delay? http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/wink.gif Got my copy today...believe me, this book is too damned good to download! You WANT the hard copy, as published...you really do!

Fishcop and Guys. When ever I get parts from Wayne I order a bundle of things so the box is about the size of two or three shoe boxes. It poblably weighs a couple of Kg's. I get it sent by US post, second class or something, surface anyway, and it gets to Kiwiland about 3 or 4 months later. The cost of shipping is only USD$27.00. Avoiding our local GST (same as sales tax or VAT) and avoiding the local dealer mark-up's I get my 911 parts for about one third cost.

Cam and Matt, are you reading this!
