Tips for keep center caps on
Anyone have good tips to keep the center caps on 3.2L carrera. those little suckers are not cheap and I have now lost 2 of them. Wondering if some plumbers tape around the edges may keep them on.

Center caps...........
Porsche makes (or made) locks that mounted on the backside of the wheel to keep the center caps secure. The lock consisted of a ring that would just fit into the inside of the cap. The ring had 3 allen screws that could be tightened to physically lock the cap to the wheel. If you can't get them new, there should be lots of used ones around. Hope this helps!

Fred....ever used them? PITFA......not a lot of room for an allen wrench. Knuckle busting experience and the tire techs will hate you. IMHO, as stupid as wheel locks and clocks in the dash....oh and the oil level gauge.....
Here's the other thread. aand, damn hubcap loss

My car came with three center caps and three lock rings. I bought a new center cap with no lock ring: I now once again have three caps with three lock rings. Found some rings from a fellow pelican and will now buy a new cap, and paint it, and hopefully not lose this one. Although I will say that the silicon option Joe Bob is suggesting seems eminently sensible.

An extra tap with a dowel and hammer used to release the silicone seal. If you are happy with the extra work, cool. Just giving my experiences. You know how oppinions are....%^)
I now have my ride riding Kommando as suggested above. I have two set of caps sitting in a tool box.

Take small punch and increase the dimple fronmthe center of the cap. Light tap and the dimple is restored, mine are now tight as a drum.

What he said ^ The locking rings were NLA as of a year ago but I snagged a pair for $40. My caps have hand painted crests and were a gift from my son so I really don't want to lose them.
