Installing 95 993 3.6 into 82sc

Came here to Pelican a long time ago. And always read all the posts regarding 3.6 swaps. And finally got mine. I bought the car in 2008 and never got to it. Family, Kid, dogs, another kid, life.

So i bought a 993 engine and want to install it.
Have couple of questions.

Wiring Harness Adapter - this i get

Flywheel - Flywheel came with my motor, do i need to get specific one for 915 transmission

Throttle Cable - this i get

Single Pulley - this i don't understand. Does the fan on 993 has a clutch? I was planning to leave A/C Compressor and have a working A/C

Power Steering Block Off - I also do not understand this. Is it some hydraulic thing that needs to be plugged?

Cold Air Intake
3.0/3.2 Engine Tins
3.0/3.2 Pulley/Engine Console

External Oil Cooler install. I have 2 oil coolers in the front bumper, can i just route the hose to them?

Do i leave the oil tank on the side in the quarter panel as well?

Assuming the use of a 915 trans you will need a flywheel that is compatible w/ the 915 225mm clutch, the stock 993 uses a 240mm which is incompatible. A Sachs 915 Sport clutch or a Kennedy 915 clutch is a good option, flywheel can be purchased frpm Dr Timmons or Patrick Motorsports

The stock 993 fan pulley has two independently operating sheaves, The RS & Cup ran a single splined sheave on the fan and depending on whether AC was retained or not a single or dual sheave crack pulley. To retain AC run the stock 3 sheave w/ a bare sheave or run the RS mit AC option dual sheave. W/ or w/o AC you can run the single pulley fan. The only downside is that the alternator runs a little slower.

Since he power steering is not used on a 911 t/p the cam driven p/s pump on the passenger side is removed, this leaves a hole that is best covered by a little plate. Timmons, Patrick and Rothsport all have these or make your own out of a sheet of tin

don't worry about a cold air intake, there is a snorkle line addition to the stock air box intake that can be purchased but it is not at all necessary, the cooling fan keeps engine bay temps near ambient while it is running fast.

most of us retain the 2nd engine mounted oil filter and run several variations on front cooling, for track use you need a ton of cooling and a large valance mount is a minimum, add one or two fender mounts for additional cooling, for street use a med/lrg valance mount or maybe 2 fender mounts is fine

Most likely but not necessarily you will want to ditch the engine mounted cabin air fan and duct heat w/ an RS tube

Bill thank you for your input. Greatly appreciated.

From this list is there anything that i need to add to it, or something i can do without?

Your 3.6 looks very clean. Good luck with your build.

Bergo 07-16-2015 01:39 PM

you will need
camshaft block off cover is needed

the oil pressure sender from you SC might work, if not get the pressure sender, the 993 sender gives reading too high same w/oil pressure sender

studs to mount the trans are needed

oil feed adapter(993 version) is needed

KEP clutch set is recommended

the oil lines are needed unless you already changed the stock SC ones

single belt fan drive is recommended

the starter ring gear is needed

secondary injection block off if deleting SAI, recommended

for track use the catch can can be desireable

wire harness conversion is needed

:)

I noticed that no-one has commented on fuel lines for this 3.6 engine swap.

The fuel system in the SC uses M14 Fittings & Hose while the 3.6 993 motor uses M16 fittings throughout. If you keep the stock Fuel Filter, I have the correct Metric fittings & E-85 rated "Direct Connect" Hoses to make this job an easy one.........
