915 bearing question
I need to replace the input shaft roller bearing - the one nearest the differential, beside the ball bearing.
My parts book calls out two: 930 302 391 00, which is in the $250 range, and 999 110 032 00, which is under $100. The second one is a FAG N206E TVP2C3, a fairly standard bearing. The existing bearing is marked N206E but without the TVP2C3 marking. In some online references, the second bearing is called out for earlier gearboxes, but some list it for the 1984 gearbox. Does any know whether they are interchangeable?

correct part numberMight have the answer to my own question.
Apparently a change was made in the bearing during the 1984 production run, from a 62mm OD bearing (the 99911003200 number) to a 55mm OD bearing, (the 93030239100 number) to strengthen the case. Looks like most online places list the 99911003200 as applicable up to 1983. And that it is necessary to check the existing bearing in a 1984 box before ordering. It would be easy to order the wrong one. Nice thing about the older number is that it is a FAG N206-E-XL-TVP2 C3, widely available. The C3 denotes a slightly looser than standard fit to accommodate elevated temperatures.
