can someone help me with what this car should be worth?
78sc white, black leather. interior looks great, no fading, cracking, etc. pw, pmirrors, sunroof, everything works, new rotoary compressor, tensioners, clutch, all upgrades, needs a couple of tires, but that is about it. runs strong-no leaks. thanks |

I believe on Rennlist you posted that the guy was asking $15K. That seems reasonable if everything is in such good shape. The one thing I would look for is recent engine work, clutch work, transmission work, etc. If the car has a lot of miles and has never had engine work, that may be cause for concern. Also, if the transmission has never had any work, that would most definitely be cause for concern.
If all of these things check out, though, $15K seems reasonable, or at least pretty close to what it's worth in this market. If you're really serious, offer him $14K.

I bought my '74 in similar condition...excellent condition, actually. The PO didn't seem to know how to value it and asked if I'd pay $6500. She had a check in her hand in minutes. I think the value should have been around 9K.
I would be thinking around 13K for the 78, but that's a wag considering I can't see it. Ryan

Condition is the most important thing. SC's are dropping just like everything else though, even Pano's classifieds have nice SC's closer to $10K than $15K. Here come the flames...

I know a guy who would prefer a white coupe with black interior. He could buy the car, fix the head studs before they bread and put Doug's P&Cs in while he's there, along with cams. That car would be a screamer.
But I'm sure he would not look at it for $15. He can get a 993 for a few thousand more.

With info provided, I'd say 12-13k would be a reasonable price point for this car, based on the current market. Your description does not imply a concours car to me, but likely close to very good condition. I'd say last year, this car might have been a 15k car. And yes, I bought my SC last year.
