windshield frame vinyl and door pillar trim - where to buy???
Hello,
I need the windshield frame vinyl and the door pillar trims (just like these one here Door Pillar Retrim Kit (pair) Porsche 911 '66-'98 - Lakewell.com), any idea where to get them her in the US, I can't find them here on pelicanparts. I have a 1983 911 SC Cabriolet and would need both in black, leather prefered. - Juergen Last edited by daiberl; 09-05-2011 at 09:01 PM.. |

Another bump, I can't believe nobody needed these parts in the past, what did you do, did you buy the vinyl and leather and created the parts or is there any source where they can be bought here in the US????

Take a sample to your local upolstrey shop and have them match it. If it is a standard color they will have some scrap pieces they might give you. Make a template from the old ones and cut and glue them in. If you want some thin cushion behind them use headliner material, works perfect. Make SURE you use high temperture adhesive to attach. I think I have some, but to spite they came out of a leather car, I don't think they are leather.

Would be great if you can check and if you have them I might be interested in buying them, even if they are vinyl. I change the complete interior from grey-beige to black so I need black ones.

I probably won't be home till friday to check. I should have up to 4 sets. I thought they were all black not matter what color the interior was. Call me friday afternoon to remind me.

I just replaced this trim piece in my Targa. I had an upholstery shop cut and stitch new vinyl using the originals as templates. I used Dap Landau Top & Trim adhesive which is available on-line or at wholesale only upholstery suppliers, but it is amazing contact adhesive and very strong after a day or two. Also, I ordered adhesive-backed felt strip (2" x 1/4") from McMaster-Carr and attached it to the frames before you glue on the trim strip - just try to match what you remove. It is a bit of a trick to get the corners nice and smooth, but overall it turned out very nice!
