Intro

Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself to this forum before i start asking questions. Like many of you, i have loved Porsches since a very young age. I finally bought myself one for my 50th bday. It is a 1978 SC Targa. It is lime green in colour. It is a true Canadian car - bought and driven in Canada for all its life. Overall, the car is in really good shape - no rust, no corroded wiring and engine runs very strong. (Yes, I had a PPI done by a Porsche specialist when I bought it!). I am from Ottawa, Canada and I have joined the PCA.

We have a summer home in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and I'm planning on taking the there for my summer vacation. I have spoken to my mechanic and he has given me the thumbs up for the trip and has provided me with a "care package" of spare parts and tools to take along. It will be a 3 day trip with 5 to 6 hours of driving a day. I would be interested in meeting up with Porsche enthusiasts in Nova Scotia.

I will post some pics of my adventure. In the meantime, I have started an album with photos of my car as well as that of my Porsche buddy and member of this Forum 911T70.

Nice looking car.
Post your intended routes. I'm sure there will be some Pelicans along the way to help out if you have any trouble along the way.
Have a fun trip.

You have a summer home that is 15 hours away ?
Wow, that's like a NY'er having a summer home in Tennessee.

Cars in the link both look fantastic!

Beautiful green. My wife says she's not sure she'd want that color herself, but it makes her feel better knowing one that color exists.

Welcome to Pelican, Gilles! I'm practically new here also and every question I've asked has been answered, from as far away as Australia. Makes owning and maintaining an old 911 a lot easier!

Here's a video of Gilles and I driving to the pub. Warning: long and boring :

Yes, we have a summer home that is 16 hours away but that is how far you have to drive to get to the ocean when you live in this huge country! The long drive is worth it! If you've seen the series Stone Cold starring Tom Selleck, it was filmed in my cove. As a matter of fact, Selleck's trailer was parked at my place! The movie Earhart was also filmed there. We'll be there for 5 weeks; so I won't be turning round right way!

My mechanic tells me that only nine Porsches of that colour were imported into Canada. My 9yr old daughter absolutely loves it! Her favourite colour is green. She would like it passed on to her at some point! i really like the colour because it is so rare.

1970's architecture goes well with 1970's cars!

Thanks for your intro and pics. I too purchased my Porsche for my 50th birthday. The PO of mine had bought it for HIS 50th too.

Enjoy the drive to Nova Scotia, great looking car.

Welcome and congrats on the purchase - Targas are great, and I love that colour! Looks like the Ottawa River Parkway where that photo was taken - I like to drive that one, too. Have a great trip and hope to see you at some of the Ottawa events (Cars and Coffee, Saturday coffee runs, etc.) when you get back.
