Bent front bumper - what to do with it?
 

I've got a stock front bumper off of an '88 Carrera in my garage. I has a slight bend in it from what looks like the PO running into something. It's not dented but it's bowed slightly. It's hard to see the bend but the outer ends are about an inch further apart than they should be.

Can these bumpers be fixed or should I simply scrap this?

scrape yard. aluminum should be worth something.

I have re arched bumpers with a chain, a floor jack, and blocks of wood. You want to set the chain and the bumper up like a bow and arrow, you draw the ''string'' with the jack set on blocks in the middle of the bumper. The chain wraps around the whole outside of the bumper.

Shorter chains pull on the ends more, a longer one pulls on the middle more. The blocks can help to set the arch as well, in addition to cushioning the bumper from the jack. I have all this stuff lying around in the shop, so it is nothing for me to play with a bumper and maybe save it. Floor jacks are very persuasive.

If there is no kink, it can often be done.
