Pedal Assembly Question
Rebuilding my '86 pedal assembly and note that the brake pedal pushrod shaft is not quite parallel to the mail swivel shaft. See finger pointing to the shaft in question.
![]() Is this normal to address the slight offset between the pedal and the master cylinder or do I have a bent brake pedal? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Johan

You need to check to see of the rod at the servo end is 'square' to the servo push rod - I suspect that it will be and that the pedal is jigged in this manner.

I suspect a bent pedal if the mc link pin isn't parallel to the pivot tube.
I looked for - but could not find - a thread with a similar issue that I'd seen a couple years ago to prove it to you and myself. If I recall, the theory was that someone got on the brakes hard enough to do this. on edit: Looks like I am in the minority here, so - never mind.

Thanks guys. I'll leave it as is and post if it does not line up.
What a brain trust! I wake up and there is the answer. Cheers, Johan

So I painted and all the pedal parts from the '86 donor car and replaced all bushings with brass bushings from our host. Like every good mechanic I ended up with an extra bushing which I cannot fathom where it goes. Neither the enclosed instructions Nor the PET are any help.
This is the bushing kit. The bushing in question is the middle of the third row down. ![]() Closeup of the bushing- I.D. Is 5.44 mm. O.D. Is 9.44 mm at the thicker end and slightly tapered at the over at 9.40 mm. Length is 5.59 mm. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() PS- the Canadian dime is the same size as the U.S. counterpart (but sadly worth much less these days). Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Johan

Pete,
You are right. Looking at the PET for '86 and also '73, they both show a bushing at the clutch clevis. So to my surprise my clutch arm hole does not provide for this bushing. See pic.... ![]() Oh well, 427k km and the hole is still tight so I'm sure I'm good to go for another 400. Thanks for your help. Cheers, Johan
