Gauge fogging
I have an 88 911 cab...almost anytime that I drive the car the two gauges on the left side...fuel/oil level and oil pressure/temp....fog up from the inside of the gauge....the other gauges never do this....
Is there a solution? Thanks |

I put a dehumidifier inside the car and leave it running for two three weeks, and never get fogging again.

Or you can remove the offending gauges, remove one of the gauge modules from the rear and slip one of those little desiccant packs inside the gauge. You know, the ones that always say, "Do Not Eat" on them. Even in the humid rainy season here mine never fog any more.

Arne2, that's brilliant! I have the same left 2 gauge fogging on my 83 Cab. I am going to try this.

Welcome to the club! I never understood why the speedo and clock never fogged but the fuel, oil and tach on my car did. I was going to throw a desipack in when I cleaned the glass but forgot. Now I have really clean gauges that still fog. Oh well.

My indy told me the Porsche Factory solution back in the day (80's) was to drill a 5mm hole int eh bottom of that gauge. This provides sufficient air circulation to prevent fog....and as the hole is on the bottom moisture will not climb up the hole and into the gauge.
