Small diameter deep dish RS-RSR wheel 300-350mm
The factory unit is 380mm, slightly thicker than a 911 wheel and most likely offers very fine fingertip input as larger diameter wheels allow. I like the factory style wheel and understand it's benefits but want something smaller and more aesthetically proportional to the 911's cockpit (in my eyes). I think 350mm is a good size despite hiding the guages.
I bought an early 914- wheel to butcher and try out a smaller diameter hoop before having everything wrapped. I am trying some possible options and one of them is a 12" hoop which is very small (315mm once wrapped thick). The overall wheel would look good but would it be too small? -I have had small wheels in non-ps vehicles before and am aware of their setbacks when stationary in parking lots. Who has tried a small diameter wheel in a 911 before? Does steering become too heavy? Too dull? Less ergonomic? ..What about small diamater wheel with factory steering rack and pinion VS "normal" steering wheel with short-ratio rack and pinion? How would those two options compare in terms of feeling and input required? |

I installed a Momo Monte Carlo 320mm Alcantara a couple of months ago primarily for AutoX, but seems fine on the street. Does block the gauges a bit.
