Really OT: I did it!

I know, another off topic but I am stoked!
I'm a 55 year old Porsche fanatic and fanatic cyclist. Yesterday I completed my first Double Century, 200 miles and over 12,000 ft. of climbing on my bike. The ride started at 4:30 am. and I finished up at 10 pm, beating the midnite deadline by a couple of hours. This pic is me (when I was still feeling good http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif taken by another rider, while he was riding in front of me. Sorry about the off topic but you know how it is when you do something for the first time.....

Congrats... A double century is a tough one (ugh). I did the 24 hrs of Snowshoe this year, so I know how happy/tired you must feel.

Cool!

I'm a long time road bike racer/rider/tourer. Started back in the early eighties and in my prime I was riding over 400 miles a week not counting weekend racing. I've raced in several 200+ mile races and they always build "character".
Keep riding! As you probably know, it's a great way to keep in shape and will keep your steering reflexes sharp!

I'm a 25 year-old kid (about 12 at heart) in good shape and I could never do that. That is so amazing. You definately get a congratulations from me!
Kyle.

I am not a cyclist and quite frankly find it a little boring (sorry!) but God Dam my man!! That is awesome!

Bill,
Congratulations on the double. Awesome. 12,000 feet yet.
I did a century a couple of years ago (mostly flat too) and couldn't imagine doing another 100 unless much less in the seat for 15+ hours unless I was in the shape you obviously are. What hurt the most? What did you use for night vision?

Congratulations...you almost (but not quite) inspired me to dust off the old 1970's Raleigh SuperCourse that's still hanging in the garage. Probably a pretty stone age bike compared to today's stuff. 200 miles at 12,000 feet? Man, I wouldn't even want to drive that course...way to go, man!

Congrats! A great accomplishment. 12,000ft is a lot of climbing! I'm an avid bike racer and 200miles is a long day for anyone at any level.

Guys, Thanks for the replys. Sherwood, we had to have a red rear lite and I used a halogan headlite that had a quick release clamp for the handlebar, powered by 5 double "A" batteries. I had to change batteries once to get thru the nite. It worked great and was cheap (15 bucks)
