Packing up to leave tomorrow for the Targa Baja!

This year's roster is double the size of last year's! And we have some very interesting cars. Along with 30 Porsches there is a 53 Lincoln Capri, a Type-C Jaguar, 5 Alfas, a Ford Falcon, an MG coupe, a Bug Eyed Sprite, a VW Bug, a Lotus Esprit, a NASCARed out Chevy, a bunch of Bimmers and more! (You have to love an auto nut with the stubborn resolve to drive an old car across Mexico!)

So SO pumped for this trip. There will be a trail of wailing car alarms set off all across Mexico by our shouting exhausts!

(One more day, one more day, one more day, ... )

To Dave: You are the king of the road trip! Let's make this happen!

Maybe we can get more people to stop at the Barrett Junction Cafe in on the way back on Sunday.
Best slow smoked barbecue I've ever had!

We drive right past it on the way back into the US. We stopped with one other car after last year's Targa Baja.

Brisket smoked 18+ hours! Mmmmm!!!

There's not a doubt in my mind that I am THE FIRST person to post a pic of an Omni on this site! Great weekend!

and the downhill version, with serious tire scrubbing on the fender, limiting the cornering speeds

Had to explain to the wife about the sound of the turbo spooling on that thing. People don't know of the existence of the GLH or the GLHS (like yours).
I meant to ask: How do the brakes stand up with that kind of power?

I was really happy with the quantity of non Porsche cars on this years run. Obviously Dave owns a Porsche shop so when the word goes out who would hear about it first? But the variety of different kinds of cars is way more interesting.
The king is still the Jag C-Type. It was like traveling with a super model. Just gorgeous!

BTW - If you are posting any pics or video on Facebook try to use the tags #TargaBaja2015 and #TargaBajaCalifornia so they are easy to find.

I could not agree more about the variety of cars. I mean, I can only get passed by so many 911's before I get bored . The brakes on the Omni are actually out of a minivan. Good old "Hot rod ingenuity"? LOL everything from that era is interchangeable. So it was converted to a four wheel disc system taken right out of the junkyard off a Dodge Caravan, that may or may not have had wood paneling. Nothing like a 25 dollar brake upgrade. Needless to say, the brakes were up to the task and then some.

Went back into FB and hashed all my pics.
