LeMans Movie Car Found in Barn!

Maybe not a barn, but close enough. This article is from a month or 2 ago. Anybody know more?

When I first saw that article a few months ago I almost fell out of my chair. Imagine being the one to have stumbled across it!

They claim this is the car McQueen won the race in, but this seems to conflict with the information on 917-022 in the Gunnar Museum:

Re:

McQueen in the movie drove the #20 car and then crashed it. He was swapped into #21 and came in 2ND, with #22 winning. In reality, I think that the car that won was the red and white Salzburg 917. And yes, an amazing find. Do you know how much it was sold for?

The question is, if you found it, would you sell it?

If I found it, you wouldn't know it.

If I had found it I would have thrown some plates on it and driven it right into the next RGruppe meet!!! Hey, is that the ultimate RGruppe car or what?

Here is the actual race car from Le Mans. This pix was taken last Saturday at a PCA tech session. According to the person who works at the place that now owns this 917K, it is the actual race car, not Steve McQueen's car in the movie but most of the race footage in the movie is this car. Other than engine work, it has never been restored.

No question about it. I haven't had a ticket since 1992 but there is not question I would risk a fesh one for a drive in one of these. No question whatsoever. There would be a few unaccounted for miles on the car before I sold it.

Ultimate RGruppe car? Have you lost your marbles?
RGruppe is not worthy of a car of this calibre.

Superman as for driving one of these monsters, I have.
Theyr'e a real ***** to turn, and a double ***** to shift. A 917 cannot be driven on the street...............LeMans yes!

Don, I'm a bit confused. This is not the car at Gunnar Racing shown in the link above, so which chassis number is this car? Thanks.
