Born in '75. Me and my 'new' 911s.

Hello all, SmileWavy new member and first time 911 owner.

I've been obsessing over 911s for years and now I'm a proud owner of a 1975 911s. The same year I was born. Sure it's a middie, but I see a lot of very proud owners and fantastic looking midyears so I'm absolutely thrilled to have found a very nice garage kept AZ 911s.

I heard I'm the 3rd owner, but the paperwork trail is less than stellar.

I'm excited to really dive in and have some fun getting it back on the road. My dad built Porsche "speedsters" in AZ in the 70's that use the VW 4's and many many cars (mostly street rods) since. So I'm hoping we can make it a father son and grandson (my kid) project.

Been garaged for 10 years so obviously needs some love but overall a great find IMHO. In AZ since 97 and shows only minor rust spot near the passenger pillar.

First up is fuel system. owner parked it when it had a fuel air leak.

Then brakes and some new shoes and I think she's a driver.

Also I think I might do this to the cookie cutters...

Then down the line opt for some fuchs.

I thought these all had a chrome drivers mirror. Is this an aftermarket side mirror?

Yeah, this one looks a bit out of place. Might have to scrounge up a chrome side mirror.

No shame in owning a mid! Looking great.

JOHN21BLACK 08-11-2015 07:47 PM

I have a pair of SC mirrors for sale. 150.00 + shipping if interested.

Congrats and welcome! SmileWavy

Car looks like a great starting point and really just needs some fuchs! Enjoy and keep us posted with updates :D

+1 on that.

The middies bad rep has made them a good buy in many cases. By now if a middie is still around it's weak points have likely been corrected,

A nice looking car. Well done.

Lot of work but a lot of fun

I bought a 77 with a 3lt over two years ago and spent that time bringing it back to life, tackled 98% of it myself with inspiration from Magnus Walker (albeit on a smaller budget) as well as invaluable help from this site!

Some people bang on about the best 911, well I think the best 911 is the one that you own and drive!

Hope you have fun!!!

Definitely!

On the downside (weight-wise) she's got a sunroof, but on the plus size NO AC!

Metrod your 77 is really nice! I found the start of your build thread here.

I want more pics! This is very close to what I'm going for. Love the mirrors. Is that a different tail light? Got any shots of the motor rebuild? Lucky that you have the 3.0.

What tire size is that? How'd you paint the wheels? Stance is really great.

The goal is to drive my car to the LA Roadsters show Father's day 2016. My dad and I have been going to the show for 30 years. Only missing a few here and there. So that gives me a time table of 10 months.

Congrats and good luck sorting out the new car and enjoying it!

Nice work method
Love those black cookies

75 911s 08-12-2015 06:42 AM

Thanks everyone.

@Metrod LOVE what you've done. I saw your build thread but it ends without updates! Would love to see the interior and more engine / suspension pics. I think black rims on a white car work especially well. What process did you use on your cookies? Powder-coated or just sprayed?

Yes, need details on the mirrors!

TheSt|G 08-12-2015 06:52 AM

I really like a good set of cookie cutters.

GeorgeM 08-12-2015 07:21 AM

Congrats!

I thought they switched to flag mirrors in '75.

I agree with your plan to paint the cookie cutters silver.

CCM911 08-12-2015 08:24 AM

Nice car! Looks like it needs a good vacuuming, LOL. Also, ditch the black on the cookie-cutters. Whoever did that mod must have been hitting off the crack-pipe!

Matt Monson 08-12-2015 09:32 AM

Nice car. Another +1 on there's nothing wrong with a middie. I just bought one...

shaunmbenson 08-12-2015 09:38 AM

Beauty.
