Air Cooled

Hi all; I have a 1980 TargaSC 3.0L- I have never had a problem with the cooling system but I have also never heard the fan go on. The temp. guage appears to work fine - just thought it was odd-any thoughts?

Which fan? The main cooling fan is belt driven and, therefore, runs all the time the engine is running. The only other fan that could be in qustion is the auxilliary fan (on driver's side up along the engine), on my '78, and I think all others, the only time this is energized is when you activate the heating system. If you have the up-graded "Carrera" oil cooler in the right front corner (just in front of the tire) it may or may not (mine doesn't) have a fan that is activated by oil temperature.
