SSI Smog Question

Hi All
Has anyone thought or tried to have a muffler shop run the two SSI exhausts thru a $70 universal PEP Boys Cat in the muffler space and use a supertrap or resonator tip to pass the visual on a CA Smog test? Would this set-up work for testing purposes?
Thanks
Glen

Which car do you have? Such a setup might work OK...but I can't imagine that it would pass the Calif smog-nazi visual inspection in the least! Nothing about it resembles stock on a post-74 911. If the inspector knows 911's well at all, or has good pics to look at, I think he'd be onto it in no time.

There was an earlier post by someone who built a similar arrangement. Seems he past if I remember.

However...the sheet metal on SSIs make them look an awful lot like cats to someone not familiar with the car. Nudge nudge, wink wink.
